Sunglasses: A Summer Must for Style, Health By Emilio Justo on July 08, 2014

We know that sunglasses are an important part of our style.

Your sunglasses choice sends out a strong message about your level of confidence, your character and personality. Your choice in frames and colors tell a story: How fun you are, or serious and put together in the right situations.

But they do a lot more than that. They protect your eyes and your skin in a variety of important ways. If you don't wear sunglasses now, you need to get a pair.

During July at Arizona Eye Institute & Cosmetic Laser Center's Just for Eyes Optical Boutique, we are offering prescription sunglasses 30 percent off when you purchase a full set of eyeglasses. It's our way of encouraging you to take good care of yourself, and save some money in the process.

It is important that you select a pair of sunglasses that protect your eyes from the damaging rays of the sun. The right sunglasses can also cover the delicate skin surrounding your eyes, and prevent premature aging.

Protect eyes and delicate skin: Always wear sun block. But even with it on, the sun's rays can cause detrimental damage to your skin and your eyes. Sunglasses with the right UV protection will keep your eyes and your skin healthier and younger longer.

Prevent dry eye: Dry eye syndrome is often caused by dry environments like ours here in Arizona. Wearing sunglasses on a regular basis can also protect your eyes from blowing dust. And even if you don't have dry eye, it doesn't hurt to protect your eyes from whatever gets picked up in the wind.

Avoid squinting, eye strain and glare: Want to protect your eyesight and your skin from wrinkles? Sunglasses will block out the glare that makes you squint to see more clearly.

All ages! Sun glasses are important for all ages, including children. It's important you provide your children and
grandchildren with the right tools to keep themselves healthy in their lifetime - and set an example for one. Wearing sunglasses is a fun example to set.

These days, you can get fashionable prescription or nonprescription sunglasses, from Coach to Maui Jims, right here at Just For Eyes boutique located in our practice. You can also get sunglasses that look great and fit right over your regular eyeglasses.

So go find your style, and treat your eyes and your skin to a little pampering.
