Obagi Blue Peel®

The Obagi Blue Peel® chemical peel is a popular treatment at our Phoenix area cosmetic centers. Simple and cost-effective, it can restore the appearance of your skin, giving you a tighter, firmer, more radiant look. Designed to be used in conjunction with the Obagi Nu-Derm® System, the Obagi Blue Peel® treatment is administered in our office, and is not intended for take-home use. The active ingredient in the chemical solution is trichloroacetic acid, or TCA. This acidic element is used widely for cosmetic treatments ranging from tattoo removal to the treatment of warts, and is a safe, effective ingredient.

During treatment, a skin care professional from our team will apply the Obagi Blue Peel®. The scope of the chemical peel will depend on a variety of factors, including the extent of skin damage that you suffer and your personal aesthetic goals. Once the solution has been applied to the face, a mild burning sensation may persist for a few minutes, but this typically subsides. After the peel has been left to sit for approximately one hour, and penetrate the outer layers of the skin, allowing the active ingredients to work, the peel will be removed. The skin may have a slightly bluish tint to it for roughly 12-24 hours, though this tint can be washed off and will go away. Typically, the outer layer of dead skin will begin to peel 2-3 days after the procedure, and the skin should be completely healed roughly one week after treatment.

Results

After the skin has healed, your complexion will be smoother, tighter, and clearer, making it appear healthier and more youthful. The effects of treatment should continue for 4-6 weeks, as your skin continues to improve. Though we offer soft tissue dermal fillers for individuals looking to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and laugh lines, many of our Phoenix area patients find that a chemical peel can satisfy their needs. If you are looking to correct superficial flaws and mask the effects of aging, Obagi Blue Peel® may be right for you as well.
