This message goes out to Veterans and their families.

Thank you.

It is a simple phrase considering what you have given to our nation.  Thank you.  I know your lives are not simple. Your bravery is not simple.  Your honor is no simple matter.  The courage of your families is no simple task.  But one thing is a simple fact:  

You are heroes. Your family are heroes.   

Today is my birthday, and I know that without the birthday gift our brave veterans gifted us all, long before my birth, this day could be very different.  Thanks to your generous gift, I will join my family today and celebrate a life of happiness and opportunity.  

Thank you for the gift.
