Regain Clear, Beautiful Skin

Sclerotherapy is a simple, non-surgical procedure used to eradicate spider veins, the abnormally twisting and darkly colored veins lying directly beneath the surface of the skin. Caused by a variety of factors, spider veins can negatively impact your confidence and self-esteem, and can even be painful and uncomfortable. Although women are mainly affected by the condition, men sometimes seek treatment for spider veins as well. By undergoing sclerotherapy at our Phoenix-based Arizona Eye Institute & Cosmetic Laser Center locations, we can get rid of those conspicuous veins and leave your skin looking smooth and beautiful. Treatment and Process

Sclerotherapy is a trusted treatment that has been utilized since the 1930s to clear out spider veins, with 80 percent to 90 percent of patients greatly improving their appearance. To begin the procedure, a micro-needle is used to inject a solution directly into the spider vein. The solution harmlessly inflames the lining of the veins, which causes the inside walls to stick together, cutting off blood flow. Eventually the vein collapses, pinched from the new differences in pressure surrounding the vein tissue. Once the vein seals together, it becomes scar tissue, which the body breaks down and absorbs within a few months. Since spider veins are superficial blood pathways, eliminating them will not affect your normal body functions in any capacity.

After the Procedure

The procedure requires roughly one injection for every inch of spider vein being treated, and takes around half an hour total. Afterwards, you will be free to drive home, as sclerotherapy is an out-patient procedure. To ensure that you achieve the best results possible, you will be asked to follow some post-procedure treatments, which will be outlined in detail. Bruising and smaller veins may appear around the treated area, but these will fade over time. Two or more sessions are usually required, with 50 percent to 80 percent of the injected veins being eliminated each session. Less than 10 percent of people don't respond to traditional sclerotherapy, but alternative methods exist to achieve similar results in such cases.

Excellent Benefits

Once the treatment has either eliminated or drastically reduced the appearance of spider veins, you will be able to enjoy smooth, clear skin and all of its benefits. You'll be free to wear whatever you like and enjoy the boost in self-confidence that comes with youthful, healthy looking skin; no more worrying about which clothes you need to wear to cover up the area, and no more trying to hide your skin when you are at the beach or pool!

Possible Risks

As with any medical procedure, there is a risk of complications occurring as a result of sclerotherapy, although they are extremely rare. The most serious risks are skin sensitivity, unfavorable scarring, infection, ulceration, and damage to deeper tissue structures - all of which are considered during any consultations prior to treatment.

Superb Care and Experience

Though there are some minor risks, it is important to keep in mind that most patients report a high degree of satisfaction with this safe and trusted procedure, which has been performed all over the world for more than 80 years. At Arizona Eye Institute & Cosmetic Laser Center, our specialists at the sclerotherapy process eliminate spider veins for Phoenix residents and beyond with amazing results.
