Recently there have been announcements among various government leaders on the topic of whether it continues to be appropriate to wear masks in very specific settings, and asking that businesses such as ours continue to review our public safety and mask requirements. As a business providing important health care services to the community, we are committed to top quality care that also prevents the spread of any illness, including COVID-19.  While we respect everyone’s personal choices surrounding this matter, the nature of our work with our patients require that we work in close proximity of each other and therefore we believe it is in the best interest of our business to continue wearing masks until further notice.  These precautions are appropriate given the demographics of many of our patients that place them in what medical experts consider “at risk” groups that are important to us to keep safe and well.
We will revisit this policy once we have more time and information to evaluate the impact the executive order has on our industry and community.  In the meantime, we respectfully ask that while you are providing us the privilege of caring for you and your loved ones, that you please respect our mask policy. Masks are required on every individual in the building, covering the mouth and nose.
We understand that this has been a trying time for all involved, and we are all ready to get back to normal as soon as possible. We are working hard to create processes that will allow us to do so shortly. We are confident that within a short time, if we can all work together, we will return to normal. We are very excited to see your smiling faces again, soon.

A Couple's Journey for Vision Answers

Bonnie and James Pugh felt like they were going blind.

Between the two of them, they received one diagnosis after the other: Macular Degeneration. Cataracts.

Repeatedly, eye clinics in other cities failed to update their eyeglasses prescriptions, they said, instead diagnosing them both with one ailment after another and suggesting surgeries and treatments instead of the new eyeglasses.

Then their friend told them about Arizona Eye Institute & Cosmetic Laser Center's Founder & Medical Director Emilio M. Justo, M.D.

"At 73 and 69, we have been wearing glasses all of our lives, and have been diagnosed with one thing after enough, or encouraged to have unnecessary treatment or surgery," Bonnie Pugh explained. "Then our dear friend told us about Dr. Justo - she insisted we go to the Arizona Eye Institute. She spoke the world of him - kind of the way I do, now!"

For the first time in years, the couple left an eye physician's office with smiles on their faces, and new eyeglasses ordered with their updated prescriptions.

"They listened to us, and cared about helping us with what we really needed right now - and that was new eyewear," Bonnie said. "I really trust Dr. Justo and his staff. They made the entire experience wonderful. And they had a variety of frames to try on for both of us."

At one point, the couple feared losing their driver's licenses and independence as they sought answers for their ailing vision, they said. The appointment with Dr. Justo was an important one for their quality of life.

"We felt like we were going blind," Bonnie said. "This is the only place that helped us with what we really need. I just love Dr. Justo!"
