The LenSx® Laser System is the latest advancement in this arena. With such high-tech features as a touch screen interface and real-time video imaging, the LenSx® Laser creates a customizable 3-D platform that enhances the precision and results of cataract surgery to an amazing degree.
The ORA System™ is an exciting new technology that provides real-time measurement and analysis of the eye structure during cataract surgery. This technology allows us to perform corrective surgeries and place intraocular lenses with greater precision than ever before.
An argon laser can seal blood vessels and halt leaking fluids, destroy abnormal tissues such as tumors, and bond the retina to the back of the eye (e.g., retinal tear or hole). Argon lasers can also treat glaucoma (e.g., argon laser trabeculoplasty).
If the clouding of the posterior capsule interferes with vision, laser eye surgery may be recommended. A laser is used to make a small opening in the capsule to again restore normal sight. It is not necessary to remove the entire capsule as it is left in place to support the intraocular lens.
