The Arizona Eye Institute & Cosmetic Laser Center is Open

We are still open at our regular office hours at each of our three locations. Our Medical Director & Founder, Emilio M. Justo, M.D., is seeing surgical consultations. Dr. Mark Yates and Dr. Manuel Zambrano will continue to see our postoperative patients as well as any urgent and emergency patients, along with medically necessary eye exams throughout this time.

As always during the cold and flu season that we are now in, we ask that you reschedule any appointment if you feel ill, have experienced a fever within the last 24 hours or are concerned that you may have been exposed to someone with these symptoms. We will be asking screening questions as patients arrive.

If you have an urgent eye problem and feel you need to be seen promptly, our office is here for you, but we ask that you call us at (623) 975-2020 to schedule a same day appointment rather than walk in.

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey issued an executive order mandating the temporary halt of all elective surgeries and all surgeries not considered life saving, in order to divert supplies to emergency and life saving medical needs. If your surgery must be rescheduled, one of our team members will reach out to you.

Our service to you is very important to us, so in response to this mandate, we have implemented changes to our schedule aimed at upholding high safety standards while still providing needed care.

To maintain a safe atmosphere for patients and our staff, we have significantly reduced the number of patients who will be in our offices at any one time. We respectfully request that any friend or family members wait in the car during the time that the patient is inside the office. The patient may also wait in the car until the doctor is ready, at which time we can call or text you in your car.

If you would like to try on eyeglasses, please ask one of our opticians to hand you the frames you are interested in, to ensure all frames are kept clean for you.

It is important that you know we are monitoring the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and will follow our usual OSHA guidelines for infection control. We are closely following the Center for Disease Control's recommendations as we learn more about the Coronavirus. We have increased our strong disinfection protocol and maintaining deep cleaning standards.

You are like family to us, and encourage you to contact us if you have any questions.

Behind the Scenes - Getting to know Dr. Justo

Elysia Labita Oct 8, 2012

We took some time with Dr. Justo off the clock to ask some questions a little different than what he's used to.  We know he's one of the cutting edge surgeons in Phoenix's West Valley for cataract surgery and cosmetic surgery, but what makes him tick?  What makes the man behind the surgeon?  Well, we asked...

If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?

I would be a lion so as to be "King of the Jungle", the jungle of course referring to my family who I adore and want to protect!

What is your favorite color?

Blue, the same color as my eyes!

If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional. with whom would it be?

Donald Trump, as I would love to see how he manages complex companies and a myriad of personalities around him.

What is your favorite movie?

Any of the "Austin Powers" movies, since I am a sucker for this type of humor!

If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see ply the lead role as you?

George Clooney

If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to be?

The original "Batman" so I could have a special gadget to help me get out of any troubling situation!

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Disciplined, committed and silly (only seen by a few)

What did you think you were going to be when you grew up?

An Obstetrician, until it dawned on me that I may have to get up in the middle of the night (Ughh!)

Which athlete from the past or present would you like to be?

My hero was always Johnny Bench, all-star catcher of the Cincinnati Reds in the 1970s who I emulated on the baseball diamond.

Who has been the biggest influence on your life? What lessons did that person teach you?

My parents, especially my father, always instilled in me a sense of unwavering commitment, tireless work, and high following these guidelines I would be able to achieve anything I set my mind on.

How would you describe yourself?

I am a loyal follower, a disciplined leader, and a loving father/husband.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?  20 years?

Professionally, probably doing the same great work I enjoy now, but personally I hope to enjoy more family time and watching my children grow up and mature.
