Dr. Valdes has earned his reputation as a highly respected medical optometrist following decades of experience focused on the individual care and education of every patient he sees.

My love for optometry developed while conducting undergraduate research studies in virology pertaining to blindness during AIDS at the University of Miami. Since that experience, I have worked closely with some of the nation’s leading surgeons in refractive surgery procedures and laser assisted cataract surgery with premium intraocular lenses.”

PERSONAL: Dr. Valdes' passion is competitive cycling on a national level. While at the University of Michigan and later the University of Miami, he was a member of both the national and conference championship swimming team. He also enjoys snow skiing, surfing, boating and riding motorcycles. Dr. Valdes has traveled through 47 of the 50 states in the United States throughout his adventures. He is fluent in Spanish, has studied French and Portuguese.
