What You Should Know About Cataracts

Cataracts are most commonly caused by aging. Other types include diabetic cataracts, which grow faster and tend to affect younger patients, and traumatic cataracts that develop after trauma. Chronic use of oral or inhaled steroids or topical steroids for rheumatoid arthritis can also cause cataracts.

Dr. Justo can detect cataracts in their earliest stages and help you see clearly in spite of their symptoms. If you notice a loss of clarity, experience difficulty driving (especially at night) due to halos or glare, or have difficulty reading fine print, make an appointment to have your eyes checked.

Diagnosing cataracts is a quick and accurate process at Arizona Eye Institute  & Cosmetic Laser Center. Pre-operative testing and thorough examinations are part of our individualized process, allowing us to match a treatment specifically to your needs.

The only way to determine whether you are a good candidate for cataract surgery is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Justo at our state-of-the-art facility. Our diagnostic technology and a one-on-one discussion of your goals and expectations will help us guide you toward a treatment plan.

The development of cataracts quickly affects the quality of your vision. As night driving and reading become more difficult, it is apparent how valuable clear vision is. Replacing your clouded lenses with intraocular implants during cataract surgery can offer you all the freedoms of crisp eyesight.

Thanks to Dr. Justo's experience in performing cataract surgery, the risks and side effects are usually minor and rare. You may experience irritation in your eyes for a few days, and redness for about a week. Blurred vision can last a few days after surgery.

So many of our patients choose us because of the unmatched results we provide. Our cataract surgery can give people a certain level of independence that they can't get anywhere else. Better, clearer, sharper vision can give you a chance to reduce or eliminate your dependence on corrective eye wear.

We offer options to help make your eye care affordable. Our office staff is always available to help you work through the financial aspect of cataract surgery. It is important to remember that choosing cataract surgery when necessary is an investment in your health and your quality of life.
