Recently there have been announcements among various government leaders on the topic of whether it continues to be appropriate to wear masks in very specific settings, and asking that businesses such as ours continue to review our public safety and mask requirements. As a business providing important health care services to the community, we are committed to top quality care that also prevents the spread of any illness, including COVID-19.  While we respect everyone’s personal choices surrounding this matter, the nature of our work with our patients require that we work in close proximity of each other and therefore we believe it is in the best interest of our business to continue wearing masks until further notice.  These precautions are appropriate given the demographics of many of our patients that place them in what medical experts consider “at risk” groups that are important to us to keep safe and well.
We will revisit this policy once we have more time and information to evaluate the impact the executive order has on our industry and community.  In the meantime, we respectfully ask that while you are providing us the privilege of caring for you and your loved ones, that you please respect our mask policy. Masks are required on every individual in the building, covering the mouth and nose.
We understand that this has been a trying time for all involved, and we are all ready to get back to normal as soon as possible. We are working hard to create processes that will allow us to do so shortly. We are confident that within a short time, if we can all work together, we will return to normal. We are very excited to see your smiling faces again, soon.

Frances after Cataract Surgery

Frances Paulsma describes her life-changing cataract surgery and upper eyelid blepharoplasty experience. The surgery improved her vision and she no longer even needs to wear glasses. She could not be more pleased with her successful cataract surgery.

What are the Symptoms of a Cataract?

The signs and symptoms of cataracts can vary dramatically between patients. One of the first indicators of age-related cataracts is a loss of clarity when reading street signs, or print on the television. The appearance of glare, halos, or starbursts around streetlights and oncoming headlights when driving at night are common symptoms of faster-growing subcapsular cataracts. We strongly advise you to make an appointment with Dr. Justo if you are experiencing:

  • Cloudy or blurred vision
  • Appearance of faded or yellowing colors
  • Glare or halos around headlights, lamps, or sunlight
  • Difficulty seeing at night
  • Double vision
  • Frequent changes in prescription glasses or contact lenses

Detecting Cataracts

Regular checkups with your eye doctor are as important to your health as annual physicals and routine dental cleanings. By coming in to see Dr. Justo once a year for an examination, you are giving us a chance to detect any changes in your ocular health before they become more severe. In addition to dilating your eyes, we will perform a visual acuity test to measure how well you see at various distances. We also use tonometry to measure the pressure inside your eye.

Dealing with Symptoms

In some cases, patients can achieve clear vision in spite of cataract symptoms with a new corrective eye wear prescription, better lighting in your home or office, anti-glare sunglasses, or magnifying lenses. However, surgery is the only way to eliminate cataracts altogether. During cataract surgery, the clouded lens of your eye will be removed and replaced with an intraocular lens (IOL), a synthetic crystalline lens. We are equipped to help you achieve clear vision no matter what development stage your cataracts have reached.

Why Choose Us?

Dr. Justo has more than 26 years of experience diagnosing and treating cataracts in a variety of patients. His approach to your care includes an individualized and carefully managed plan that addresses all of your ocular health needs. During your initial consultation, Dr. Justo will spend time discussing your condition and your treatment options. He will listen closely and attentively to your concerns, and take the time to answer any questions you may have. We want you to feel prepared and informed by the time you leave your first appointment.
